About African Penguin
The African Penguin is native to South African along the coast line where it is hot, there is sand, and many islands. They are also known as the black-footed penguin and grow to be about 60cm tall. The African Penguin weighs about 11lbs and can hold its breath for about 2.5 minutes. They eat mainly fish along the coast, but also eat squid and shellfish. They are not on the top of the food chain so they will get eaten by sharks, Cape fur seals, and also orcas. The African Penguin reproduces sexually, like most animals do, their breeding season is from March to May, which is long. There is about 26,000 breeding pairs of these penguins.
