Facts On Endangered Species
There are about 400 animals in the United States that are endangered. Unfortunately many of these animals are becoming endangered because of humans. Mainly because we take their habitat. Since 1600 there are more than 700 animals that we know of that have become endangered than extinct. Some animals have become extinct 1000's of years ago like the dinosaurs others are becoming extinct like possibly the African penguin.
Why Animals Become Endangered
Animals become endangered because of a couple of reasons. Most of them are because of humans like deforestation. Deforestation cuts down trees and takes the animals homes so they either have no shelter or have to find new homes. Also pollution is something which humans do. Pollution doesn't take away animals' homes but it can ruin them. Hunting and fishing can make animals endangered. People will hunt them for their fur or meat. If an exotic species comes into an animal's habitat it can cause them to become endangered because it can take away an animal's food or eat them.
